Try archery while on your Florida vacation
With the release of Brave and the popularity of Hunger Games, there’s a growing interest in Archery. If you step from the cinema inspired to try archery, you can immerse yourself even while in Florida – there are archery clubs, ranges and competitions throughout the state.
Ft. Lauderdale Archers, Ft. Lauderdale
Among state and regional competitions at Fort Lauderdale Archers, there are 35 acres of practice ranges, one of which is lighted for stage night time events. There are also two 3D courses, a 900 range, a FITA range, and a field course.
Brave – The Highland Games Tournament, Orlando
On July 8th, you can immerse yourself in Scottish rivalry in Epcot at Brave -The Highland Games Tournament. This event is created for children and includes archery along with a Mini Caber Toss and Haggis Flip. You’ll find the event on the Rose Walk from 11 a.m. till 7 p.m.
Tenoroc Shooting Sports & Training, Lakeland
One of Florida’s oldest archery clubs is at Tenoroc Shooting Sports & Training, where they have a practice range with firing points of 10 and up to 50 yards; and 3-D walk through range in wooded areas and open fields. There’s a twenty-position competition where the targets distances vary up to 70 yards and yardage markers help you to sight your bows. Best of all, they have a wheelchair accessible practice range and elevated range for shooting from 6 feet to 10 feet.
Headstrong Merida stars in Disney•Pixar’s Brave where the skilled archer defies ancient tradition in the rugged Scottish Highlands. Horseback riding through the Caledonian Forest and archery at Glamis Castle are among her favorite activities.
