Get Outdoors: Go Camping with the Great American Backyard Campout
Go camping on your Florida vacation
When school is out, many kids go straight from the classroom to their electronic devices. June is Great Outdoors Month according to a Presidential proclamation, and the Great American Backyard Campout on June 23rd is a great way to experience all that nature has to offer and to kickstart a healthy outdoor lifestyle. The annual family event is in its 8th year and is running throughout the U.S.

Indoor vs. Outdoor
Although the the American Academy of Pediatrics is warning parents to limit screen time for young children, the average child spends over 7 hours each day in front of electronic media. A new report from Common Sense Media recently issues a report that over 50% of children in America under the age of eight spend time on mobile devices at home, and almost 33% have a television right in their bedroom. NWF’s report “The Dirt on Dirt“, indicates the many benefits to having kids outside, and is a growing reason for this annual event.
Florida Public Campouts
