Surfing Dolphins of St. Pete’s Florida Go Viral
Florida Vacation Guide to Florida’s surfing dolphins
Earlier this year, a pair of dolphins became national stars after making headlines for “surfing” and playing in the waves beside a wake-skating teenager.
Now, after being featured by Dianne Sawyer on World News Tonight, these St. Pete dolphins are literally surfing to International fame on YouTube.
Watch the Dolphin Video
After a local St. Pete Beach resident captured this heartwarming spectacle on video, he sent it to Visit St. Pete/Clearwater (VSPC). That video has received more than 1 million online views!
The story has also been picked up by media outlets all over the world having been mentioned by Huffington Post, ESPN, ABCNews.com and as we mentioned earlier, World News Tonight with Diane Sawyer.
Dolphins not an unusual sight
It’s quite normal to spot dolphins frolicking in the waves in the Gulf of Mexico, but the most famous dolphin in the area lives at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
Winter the Dolphin, who had her story about her prosthetic tail told on the big screen in the hit Warner Bros. movie, Dolphin Tale, has been a major draw for tourism in the area.
The Dolphin Tale Tour
Take a 45-minute guided tour of the Clearwater Aquarium and learn where key scenes were captured on film, see some of the props used in the filming of the movie and discover unique facts about the production. This is about as close as you may get to being on set with Ashley Judd, Harry Connick Jr. and Morgan Freeman (supporting stars of Dolphin Tale).
