New “Despicable Me” 3-D simulator ride to open at Universal Orlando on July 2
Florida Vacation Guide to “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem”
Last week, while gearing up for the rash of summer travelers to hit the uber-popular theme park, Universal Orlando named a grand opening date for a brand spanking new ride. On July 2, “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” will officially open. This 3-D simulator ride is Universal Orlando’s marquee addition for 2012, replacing Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon Blast attraction. Its soft opening was on June 9 with visitors giving the ride its “technical rehearsals” while employees of Universal tested the ride working out any kinks that happened to be found. This new attraction is based on the 2010 Universal Studios film, “Despicable Me.”
A criminal mastermind with a big plan uses a trio of orphaned girls as pawns in his game. He gradually discovers, though, that their love is changing him. The film stars the voice of Steve Carell and is full of hilarious moments. The movie also features many yellow-skinned, goggle-eyed minions.
The “Despicable Me” motion simulator ride uses High-definition 3D Infitec projection systems and features multiple characters from the film. In fact, the new “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” ride transforms riders into minions as part of the experience.
Also new at Universal Orlando
“Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” isn’t all that’s new to the theme park. A new parade and an evening lagoon show are also new to Universal this year.
If you’re going to be vacationing in Orlando, will you make a special visit to Universal Studios to try the new 3D simulator ride, “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem?”
