Get Outdoors! It’s License-Free Fishing Day in Florida
Florida Travel Guide to License-Free Fishing Day
Fishing is one of the top outdoor activities that visitors to (and residents of) Florida enjoy. Results of a survey about Florida Outdoor Recreation were released back in March. The overall finding from that study that 4000 people participated in, was that outdoor recreation is important to 96% of Florida residents. Not surprisingly, fishing came in among the top activities.
Today is License-Free Fishing Day
It’s the perfect day to get outside for some “reel” fun because Florida’s Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission has declared it license-free fishing day.
According to Florida Governor, Rick Scott, “Fishing is a great way to enjoy Florida’s beautiful outdoors, get some weather and a wonderful day with family and friends. License-free fishing days are the perfect opportunity to discover the fun and excitement of fishing and Florida’s great outdoors.”
April 7 is one of four days in Florida this year that you can go fishing without a recreational fishing license. The others will be: June 2 (saltwater), June 9 (freshwater) and September 1 (saltwater). Today is license-free for freshwater fishing.
We suggest heading to Destin
Destin, Florida is known as “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village.” That’s because this scenically beautiful town has a perfect climate and crystal-clear waters just “swimming” with fish. You may have heard of Destin’s annual Fishing Rodeo which takes place in October. This event which takes place for the entire month of October, attracts 30,000 anglers from all over the world!
