Florida Beaches top Travelers Choice Awards
Florida Vacation Guide to the 2012 Travelers Choice top beaches
TripAdvisor released their 2012 Travelers Choice Awards for best beaches in the U.S. and among the Top ten list were five Florida beaches. In first place was the historic district of Pass-a-Grille in St. Petersburg. Honolulu, Myrtle Beach and Virginia Beach were also on the list but Florida beaches dominated the chart! See more for results below:
#1 St. Pete
Although only the size of one block, the historic district of Pass-a-Grille in St. Petersburg won the Number One position this year. It’s a unique spot and is celebrating its 100th Anniversary so a good reason to top the list!
#2 Miami Beach
This top list suggests regions, such as Miami Beach, but doesn’t specify which beach is best so readers still have to decide between South Beach, Haulover Beach Park or South Pointe Park.
#6 Daytona Beach
Daytona Beach came in under the number five spot, with Ponce Inlet and Beach at Daytona Beach as the two recommendations. The boardwalk and renovation were cited as major reasons for making this list, but we’d like to add the unique experience of driving on the beach! It is the only beach in Florida where you can drive on an 11 mile stretch of the beach, from Nov. 1 to April 30th.
#7 Fort Lauderdale
The beachfront at Fort Lauderdale was the seventh choice. Seems Las Olas Boulevard is a key attraction, along with the great swimming.
#10 Key West
Key West just snuck into the list by snatching the Number ten spot! The abundance of water activities was a key reason for it making the list, along with the island-time vibe. Higgs Beach got a mention, but there are tons of beaches that are amazing all along the keys. Don’t miss Bahia Honda for great snorkeling and bird watching.
