Florida Vacation Guide to Dolphin Tale’s Backstage Movie tour

Dolphin Tale, the fall 2011 movie that captured hearts, was filmed at the Clearwater Aquarium, where the 6-year-old dolphin, Winter, lives. The tour gives you a chance to step onto the real-life set!

The Tour

 On the 45-minute guided tour of the aquarium, you’ll learn where key scenes were captured on film, see props used in the filming and discover unique facts about the production. From props to anecdotes about the stars, this will be as close as you may get to being on set with Ashley Judd, Harry Connick Jr. and Morgan Freeman. You’ll also have access to areas the public doesn’t see such as the animal food preparation area, the surgical suite and the rehabilitation areas.

The Clearwater Aquarium

After your tour, make sure you explore the rest of the facility, from hands-on experiences to interactive videos abd a speaker series. You can sign up to have a stingray feed directly from your hand or wade into the shallow water and touch a dolphin. A two-hour boat tour and Grab a paddle for a half-day kayaking trip or step onto a boat for a two-hour intracoastal tour that includes live sea creatures from a net pull. And of course, you can sit back watch Dolphin Tale exactly where it was filmed!
