There is no shortage of fun things to do when November rolls around. The following are five of our favorites!

1. SIESTA KEY CRYSTAL CLASSIC

Learn tricks of the trade in a sand sculpting demonstration and lesson during this Master Sand Sculpting Competition. The weekend is filled with speed sculpting, a pro volleyball tournament and an opportunity to have your photo taken within a sculpture! The event supports Mote Marine Laboratory’s sea turtle research, rehabilitation and conservation work.

2. LANETTE SCHERR

View more than 25 abstract oil paintings of Lanette Scherr at the Wirtz Gallery’s newest exhibit. There’s an opportunity to meet the artist (granddaughter of the Parrot Jungle founders) on November 4th.

 

  • Highlight: Abstract oils.
  • When: November 4-30

3.  FORT LAUDERDALE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

 

Each year more than 100,000 movie buffs take part in this highest rated film festival in Florida! More than 200 films from 35 countries are shown each year.

  • Highlight: Grab a fast pass and get admission to all movies and events.
  • When: Till November 11th
  • Where: Fort Lauderdale (Cinema Paradiso, 503 SE 6th St.)
  • Cost: $10 (general admission), $8 (seniors & students), $6 (members).

4.  SUNSET CELEBRATION

 

Sunset cocktails, appetizers and photography demonstration are all part of a fundraiser for a new mangrove boardwalk to Little Turkey Bay. A full catered dinner, beach bonfire and green flash phenomenon round out the evening.

  • Highlight: Contributing to the Estuary eco-system.
  • When:  November 5th at 6pm
  • Where: Naples (Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park, 11135 Gulfshore Dr.)
  • Cost: $60.

 

5.  FUNDRAISER WALK

Join more than two hundred communities across North America in a memorable evening fundraiser walk for cancer. All proceeds go toward the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – you can join in today and become a “Champion for Cures” by raising $100.

  • Highlight: Walk in spirit with people across the country.
  • When:  November 4th at 6pm (Nov. for Boca Raton location)
  • Where: West Palm Beach (104 Datura St.)
  • Cost: Free but aim to be a “Champion for Cures”.
