Florida Vacation Guide: PGA Tour in Florida
Golfers and golf enthusiasts know that the Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard (formerly the Bay HIll Invitational) is one of the most high-caliber events of the PGA Tour. One of the circuit’s finest courses, annually, the Bay Hill Club in Orlando attracts one of the strongest fields of the season. And it’s all overseen by one of the greatest names in golf – Arnold Palmer.
Happening March 19-23
This week, eight winners of 2012 events, including Phil Mickelson, are playing at Bay Hill. In addition, 34 of the top 50 players on the final 2011 PGA Tour are also at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge including Webb Simpson, Nick Watney and K.J. Choi. Bill Haas, 2011 FedExCup champion and winner of the Northern Trust Open that happened earlier this year, is also playing in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The Bay Hill Club
The Bay Hill Club in Orlando is Arnold Palmer’s course. It’s a private club with a lodge that’s open to the public. Members and guests at the lodge have access to 27 holes of championship golf.
The clubhouse and locker rooms feature some of Palmer’s most treasured memorabilia in their decor. Dine overlooking the driving range and putting green. You’ll often see Palmer himself tending to the smallest of details on his property.
