Stars and Full Moon fill up star gazing events for this week!

1. Full Moon Beach Hike

There’s nothing like walking by the light of the moon rather than a flashlight. You can head out to the beach with Ranger Tony on a moonlight hike at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area by Flagler Beach. If you’re interested in the walk (it will be under a mile long), meet on time at the the beachside day use pavilion as the moonrise is set for 5:04 p.m.

2. Star Party

The Indian River Astronomical Society is hosting a Star Party  at Sebastian Inlet State Park in the Day Use Area. If weather and clouds permit, they’ll bring their powerful telescopes so you can gaze at the night sky.

  • When: January 19, 2013, 6:30 p.m.

3. Stargazing at Silver River

The Ocala Astronomy Club is holding a stargazing event at Silver River State Park with telescopes and educational sessions. If you’re a budding astronomer, bring a blanket or lawn chair to the large field across from the campground and learn about what you’re seeing in the evening sky.
