Epcot Flower & Garden Festival Debut for Foodies
Blooming Bites and Savory Sips comes to the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival
New for the 20th Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival is the launch of Garden Marketplaces where you can sample food and beverages, similar to the International Food & Wine Festival. Designed to follow natural progression of food from the garden to kitchen table, there will be 12 Garden Marketplaces around World Showcase featuring foods from various parts of the world. The festival takes place at Walt Disney World from March 6-May 19, 2013 and you can sample a variety of ethnic cuisine to vegan and gluten free options.
Garden Marketplaces Concept
As you walk to the various marketplaces you’ll see raised garden beds where some of the produce and herbs that are used in the sampling dishes are grown. It’s yet another way to demonstrate the garden to table connection.
“Each marketplace has three to four dishes, and they are unique to the festival,” says Epcot Executive Chef Jens Dahlmann. At each marketplace station, you can sample culinary creations that Epcot chefs have created. From smokehouse barbecue to crab-filled tostadas, all are paired with brews and beverage options.
Here are some of the food samplings to be found at the Intermissions Cafe:
- Beet Lollipop
- Fruit & Cheese Plate
- Tuna Salad with Pita
- Southwest Chicken Wrap
- Asian Tuna Salad with Noodles
- Vegan Trio
- Italian Salad
And you can pair the above treats with the following beverages:
