Florida Travel News: Get Outdoors December 14 – December 21

Stretch your legs for the holiday season and visit one of the following parks for a variety of holiday themed events:

1. Holiday Lights at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park

Watch a holiday dance performance, join in kid activities with Santa and make sure you catch the decorated golf carts and trailers in the Christmas parade on December 15 at 7 P.M.

  • When: December 14 & 15, 2012 | 6 – 10 p.m.
  • Where: 6131 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, Florida
  • Cost: $2/adult, free/5 and under

2. Winterfest Boat Parade

The boat parade is a 12-mile route, but one of the best viewing locations is in Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. There’s also an abundance of food Trucks, crafts and entertainment and you can arrive at 3:30, a few hours before the parade starts. The Boat Parade starts at 6:30 pm along Fort Lauderdale’s downtown and winds up at the park by approximately 8 p.m.

  • Cost: $22/Grandstand Ticket

3. Santa Over the Rainbow

Start your evening by strolling through the holiday lights at the headsprings of Rainbow Springs State Park. Watch Mr. and Mrs. Claus sail up the Rainbow River on their twinkling boat, walk to their cottage for photos and listen to holiday songs as you meet and greet Santa’s elves.
