Where to Dine: Florida’s Best Burgers
Florida Travel guide to the best dining restaurants for burgers
Let’s face it, burgers have gone trendy, with gourmet burgers served in swanky restaurants, with a host of combinations. If you’re dining out, from gourmet to the basic cheeseburger, here’s our list of the best:
The Counter, Miami
The best dining in Miami for burgers is at the airport. At the Counter, with 27 toppings and 10 cheese varieties, you have more than 300,000 combinations – think soft ripened brie and dried cranberries or roasted green chiles and tillamook cheddar. There’s more choices for toppings, bun and burger (the beef is antibiotic and hormone free). If you can’t decide, they have signature burgers to take the guesswork out of it – try the Mediterranean, a 1/3 lb. turkey burger topped with greek feta, olives, spicy pepperoncinis and the snap of tzatziki sauce.
Cabbage Key Inn, Cabbage Key
When you combine the chill vibe at Cabbage Key with chomping on a basic cheeseburger, it’s synonymous with their “Cheeseburger in Paradise” experience. Locals claim that regular, Jimmy Buffet, wrote his song with the same moniker here. Only accessible by boat, take the 10 a.m. Cabbage Key cruise with Captiva Cruises and you’ll arrive at the 100-acre island just in time for lunch, with a few hours to stroll the remote island afterward. Make sure you tape a dollar bill to the wall when you’re finished – it’s a tradition and the proceeds go to charity.
The toughest decision at this Downtown Disney waterfront restaurant is which burger to choose. Our favorite is the grilled pineapple that tops the Bacon and Pineapple burger, along with creamy smoked gouda and sweet bites of honey-glazed bacon - the best dining in Orlando for burgers.
McGuire’s Irish Pub, Pensacola
Leave it to a pub to have a grand magnum of imported champagne as part of a burger dish. The Grand Burger is a custom ground filet mignon, served with a side of caviar as well.
