There’s lots to do in Florida that won’t cost you a fortune. There’s almost always a free festival or outdoor concert taking place somewhere in the state. Here are three free Florida events you may wish to explore on your travels this weekend!

1. Birding for Children, St. Augustine

Kids aged 8-12 will love this exciting 1.5 hour program. From an outdoor session on bird identification to a scavenger hunt through Anastasia State park’s beach and boardwalk areas, kids will have a great time learning about the fundamental elements of birding. Make sure you register to ensure your kids will get a spot – call 904-461-2035.

2. Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament, Jacksonville

Whether you’re an angler or not, consider taking the family to the Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament, a great free event happening at Jim King Park & Boat Ramp from July 16-21. In addition to the fishing tournaments (only $10 to enter the Junior Angler Tournament!), live music and a boat show are to be enjoyed for free at a great family festival. The week of events comes to a spectacular finale with a glorious display of fireworks!

3. A Music Jam, Flagler Beach

Head down to the beach at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area and join a music jam session. Bring any kind of musical instrument (note there is no power available) that you care to play, pack up a chair to sit on and take part in this acoustic jam session. Don’t be shy about showing off your music and don’t worry if you’re not classically trained! All levels and ages are welcome!
