Join a Billion Acts of Green for Earth Day
Florida Travel Guide: A Billion Acts of Green Pledge
In an effort to inspire global environmental activism, the Earth Day Network has chosen A Billion Acts of Green as its theme for Earth Day 2012. The goal of the organization is to register one billion environmentally-friendly acts before the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development which is taking place in June in Rio de Janeiro.
Making your pledge is easy
Plant a flower, turn off the lights, use reusable shopping bags..there are all kinds of very simple “Acts of Green” (that we should all be doing anyway) to choose from at A Billion Acts of Green®. Making a pledge is simple. You go to the website, choose your pledge and give a few details about yourself, and you’ve joined the movement. Just like that. At the time of this writing, 997,889,840 pledges have been made.
The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development
What happens with all of those pledges? The Earth Day Network will present them to world leaders to show that we’re willing to stand up and be heard. At this Rio de Janeiro event the Earth Day Network will also be trying to secure political commitment for more sustainable development and to address new and unforeseen challenges for our planet.
About the Earth Day Network
