Get Outdoors: National Public Gardens Day offers free admission!
Florida Travel Guide: Free Admission on National Public Gardens Day
Each year, National Public Gardens Day kickstarts the Mother’s Day weekend and offers an opportunity for a special outing with Mom. Throughout the country, participating gardens offer free admission all with the hope to encourage an appreciation for the environment and gardens. In Florida, there are certain botanical gardens that offer free admission on mother’s day and many of them extend today’s offering to mothers on Sunday as well. If you’re celebrating Mom early, take her to a public garden today.
Why a garden?
Aside from being a place of beauty, gardens make a great effort to foster environmental stewardship and education. Some gardens, such as Marie Selby Gardens in Sarasota, conduct important research, while others assist in creating new plant varieites or discovering new plants. Gardens also protect endangered plants and offer outreach programs that include gardening and landscaping classes.
Activities and Events
If a Florida garden is participating in National Public Gardens Day, they may have special events and activities, so call around to see which garden has something of interest for you.
A Public Garden or Arboretum?
