Florida Travel Guide: The 2012 Fort Myers Beach Film Festival
This is like nothing you’ve experienced before. Imagine sitting on the sand and looking up at the stars. What’s so special about that, you ask? Well, these aren’t just stars. They’re film stars!
During the Fort Myers Beach Film Festival, you can do just that.
2012 marks the sixth year for this unique event which attracts film lovers and movie stars to Fort Myers Beach and it will be taking place from April 26 to 29.
The Fort Myers Beach Film Festival
What a great combination – four days of great film and beautiful Fort Myers Beach.
The Fort Myers Beach Film Festival is back after a brief hiatus, thanks to film maker Elizabeth D’Onofrio who hoped to screen a new film of hers there. When she discovered that it was no longer happening, she helped to bring it back. (Elizabeth D’Onofrio is the sister of TV and film star Vincent D’Onofrio of Law & Order Criminal Intent.)
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place Thursday at Beach Theater.
Films of the Fort Myers Beach Film Festival
One of the most important films being screened at this fun film festival is “Memorial Day” starring James Cromwell and his son, John Cromwell. This is the World Premiere of the film which centers around a grandson who finds his grandfather’s foot locker. Nobody wants him to show that he found it because they believe it will bring back old memories of war but he decides to do it anyway. This beautifully written film parallels them having both spent time in war.
Another film being screened is “Nice Guys Finish Last” featuring Kimberley McCullough of “General Hospital”. Miss McCullough will be at the screening.
There will be workshops taking place throughout the Fort Myers Beach Film Festival for anyone interested in pursuing film making as a carer.
To attend the festival it costs $5/film or $150 will give you VIP entrance to all events.
