Florida Travel Guide to celebrating Mom on the cheap!

Mother’s day doesn’t have to be an expensive celebration, with large flower bouquets and costly gifts. What Mom is really looking for is time with her children, so if you’re on a tight budget, there are lots of other ways to show Mom your love while in Florida. The beach is a great option – see our suggestions below.

A Shell Bouquet

Take Mom to the beach and “pick” her a seaside bouquet with a nice collection of shells. Either walk with her, or set her a comfy chair close to the ocean waves while you go collecting!

A Beach Picnic

Pack your Mom’s favorite foods, just like she used to pack treats for you when you were a child. Place them in a tote bag or a backpack if you don’t have a picnic basket, but be sure to bring something fancy, like a tablecloth or silverware.

Coquina Beach, Longboat Key

You don’t have to go to an expensive brunch at St. Armand’s Circle – head to the tip of Longboat Key for Coquina Beach. Although you can’t swim on part of this beach because of the strong currents, the view is breathtaking so take a chair for your Mom and sit by the water’s edge and watch the boats go by.

Atlantic Dunes Park, Delray Beach

Take a long walk along the beach or through the dunes on the designated trail. There are restrooms, picnic tables and covered pavilions so arrive early to grab a great location.

Lighthouse Park Beach, Ft. Myers

Sanibel Island is a lovely getaway for Mom and if she’s a birder or nature lover, Lighthouse Park Beach at the southern tip of the island is actually a resting place for birds and a stop for the Great Florida Birding Trail.
