Florida Travel Guide to Lance Armstrong & Steve Jobs’ biographer Walter Isaacson in Jacksonville

Each year the Florida Forum speaker series, organized by The Women’s Board of Wolfson Children’s Hospital produces a lecture series with star speakers that are an inspiration to the audience. This year is no exception, with speakers from a bestselling author to a famed athlete. The series, held at Jacksonville’s Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts, starts in October and finishes in March.

Walter Isaacson

The speaker series for the 2012-2013 season starts on October 2 with Steve Jobs biographer, Walter Isaacson. The New York Times bestselling author is also the CEO of the Aspen Institute and the chair for the Board of Teach for America.

Dr. Robert M. Gates

Dr. Robert M. Gates, the former Secretary of Defense and CIA director will speak at the Florida Forum on February 2, 2013. Recognized for his commitment to those in uniform, Gates has contributed to soldier safety, including the introduction of heavily armored vehicles in the field which cut fatalities by a dramatic 90 percent.

Lance Armstrong

Seven-time Tour de France winner and champion of the Ironman 70.3 in Haines City, Lance Armstrong will speak on March 4, 2013. When he rose to stardom, Armstrong, a cancer survivor, stayed committed to being a leader and inspiration to cancer survivors worldwide.

Proceeds from funds

Proceeds from the Florida Forum will contribute to the Larry J. Freeman Behavioral Health Center. Along with counseling and support for kids that are undergoing surgery and dealing with illness (some that are terminal), the Center provides treatment for psychiatric illness, eating disorders and many others.
