Florida Travel Guide: Plan an outdoor wedding with no worries about weather

While Florida is a fairly safe bet when it comes to planning an outdoor wedding, the sunshine state is not beautiful and sunny 365 days of the year. Florida is an ideal wedding destination, but there is still a chance that it will rain on your special day. There is one wedding venue in central Florida, however, that allows you to exchange your vows in a lush outdoor setting without having to worry about the weather - The Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee.

The Venue

If you want a setting high on the “wow-factor” scale, you will not be disappointed with the Gaylord Palms as your wedding venue. From the first moment your guests see the sprawling resort’s exterior to the second they walk past the lobby and into the more than four acres of tropical gardens spread out in front of them, they will be in awe. It is so sunny in the resort that you will not be out of place if you keep your sunglasses on inside. With the natural sunlight, birds flying around the courtyard and the sprawling palm trees, you will forget you’re not outdoors. These stunning botanical gardens are all under a glass dome which will protect your “outdoor” ceremony from succumbing to whatever elements Mother Nature wants to throw at you.

The Ceremony

You can choose to hold your ceremony anywhere on the premises, but most couples exchange their vows at the St. Augustine Wedding Pavilion, Castillo de San Marcos Fort or in one of the resort’s luxurious ballrooms.

The Reception

The Gaylord Palms offers an inclusive wedding reception package which ranges from $175-185 per person and includes:

  • Use of a luxurious ballroom for four hours
  • Cocktail hour including one hour open bar with a signature drink and hors d’oeuvres
  • Private reception area for the bride, groom and bridal party including champagne and hors d’oeuvres
  • Champagne toast
  • Table-side wine service
  • Buffet, plated or station-style dinner (specialty ethnic wedding menus and packages available)
  • Wedding cake
  • Bartender fee
  • Decor
  • One complimentary power drop for DJ or band
  • Discounted room rates for guests
  • Honeymoon suite for bride and groom
  • Personal wedding planner

The Wedding Planner

Your Gaylord Palms wedding concierge will take care of everything, guiding you through the entire planning process. From details regarding invitations, flowers, decor and linens, photography, transportation, recreation and more, your wedding planner will take the bulk of the stress off your shoulders. S/he will be in contact with you through the entire wedding planning process including managing the wedding rehearsal. The first person to arrive and the last person to leave on your wedding day will be your planner.

More

Have your beauty and stress-reduction needs looked after at the resort’s Relache spa. Host your rehearsal dinner at one of the resort’s uniquely themed restaurants. Wind down before the big day by soaking up some sun at the adult pool or sipping on cocktails at the poolside lounge overlooking the Cypress Springs water park. Go on a “moonlight” stroll with your betrothed on the evening before you exchange vows, without leaving the resort!

The Gaylord Palms Resort puts you in the honeymoon frame of mind the minute you set foot on the property.
