Florida News: Zombie invasion comes to central and south Florida for Halloween
You can’t have Halloween without zombies and a bit of horror thrown into the mix. If you want more than candy and cute trick or treat costumes, check out the following three events to get your blood curdling!
Zombicon, Ft. Myers
Since 2007, ZombiCon has grown and now draws over 20,000 zombies, closing in on the Guiness World Records. For the whole weeked on October 20 to 21, 2012, there will be an indoor convention at the Harborside Event Center where you can get in touch with your inner zombie through costume contests, special effects and make-up demos. At night, zombies hits the street with live bands and DJ spinning on four stages and the “zombie walk” that winds through streets in downtown Ft. Myers.
Zombie Paintball, Hallandale Beach
Although 17 rooms in the 8,000 sq. ft. Demon Mansion has its terrifying moments, the Zombie Paintball Safari is the highlight of the Festival of Souls held at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach. The mile-long paintball experience simulates an apocalyptic city in ruin and you can run through the 50,000 square foot space targeting live Zombies with paintball guns that fire UV paint. Zombie paintball runs for 19 days from October 4 till October 31, 2012.
Halloween Horror Nights
You can’t scream loud enough when you’re running from gargoyles at Gothic, walkers from the Walking Dead, or monsters in House of Horrors. Universal Studios has been scaring the wits out of people in their Halloween Horror Nights with haunted mazes and “scareactors” and this year they’re turning up the fear factor with a new street experience. From Penn and Teller to Alice Cooper, even the live shows have a creep factor to them. Halloween Horror Nights starts September 21st and runs till October 31st on select nights.
