Pull on your lederhosen or dirndl and head to one of the many beer and Bavarian festivals throughout Florida for bratwurst, sauerkraut and beer:

27th Annual Oktoberfest, Cape Coral

Hosted by the German-American Club, this long running German celebration includes dancing, beer and musical groups all the way from Germany. If you’re really ambitious there’s a 5K run but make sure you’re limber enough to do the “Chicken Dance.”

  • Highlight: Toss a keg!
  • When: October 19-21 and 26-28, 2012
  • Where: Various locations in Cape Coral, Florida
  • Cost: $4/person and up depending on the activity

3rd Annual Oktoberfest, Perdido Key

Pensacola’s two day festival is unique to the Bay Area and has a number of unique activities among beer drinking and costume contests, such as a Hammerschlagen contest and a keg toss. Head down to Perdido Key and give it a try!

  • When: October 5, 2012 from 2 – 8 p.m.; October 6, 2012 from noon – 8 p.m.
  • Where: Sacred Heart Soccer Field, 13200 Gulf Beach Highway, Pensacola, Florida

36th Annual Oktoberfest, Melbourne

For years, the Melbourne Oktoberfest has been continuing the German tradition of beer, food and family-friendly activities. The event celebrates German culture with live music, fair rides and German-bottled beers.

  • When: October 18 –21, 2012
  • Where: Wickham Park in Melbourne
  • Cost: $6/person; free/children under 6

39th Annual Oktoberfest, Palm Beaches

From a Beerstein holding contest to beer keg tapping, the American German Club of The Palm Beaches is entering their 39th year for this German celebration. Hofbräu Oktoberfest and Hofbräu Weizen are among the German beers along with bands directly from the Munich.

  • When: October 12-14 and 19-21, 2012; Friday 5-11 p.m., Saturday noon – 11 p.m., Sunday noon – 8 p.m.
