What To Do In Florida: Work on your green thumb at two Manatee plant sales
Florida News: Plant sales will attract hundreds of gardeners to Manatee October 6
If you enjoy admiring all of the lush botanical gardens around Florida, head to Manatee this weekend and learn how to work on your green thumb so you can improve the curb appeal of your own property! There are two popular events for gardening enthusiasts (and aspiring gardeners) happening in Manatee on Saturday that are expected to draw hundreds of people. These plant sales are being held by the Manatee County IFAS Extension office and the Serenoa chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society.
Native Plant Society and Sarasota Bay Program’s 11th Annual Native Plant Sale
On Saturday from 9am-2pm visit the Sweetbay Nursery (10824 Erie Road, Parrish) and shop from a wide selection of plants, vines, shrubs, ornamental grasses, wildflowers, ground covers, vegetables and herbs. There will be over 300 species to choose from and proceeds go to community organizations that promote the growing of native plants.
Annual Fall Manatee County Extension Master Gardener’s Plant Fair
From 8am until 1pm at the County Fairgrounds (1303 17th St. W., Palmetto), there’s a plant fair and sale taking place which also features a wide selection of plants, but the top sellers here are expected to be the plants that attract butterflies. If you’re one of the first 50 shoppers, you’ll take home some native seedlings.
At both events you’ll be able to purchase gardening tools and supplies, and you’ll get your gardening questions answered at the information booths.
