What To Do In Florida: Visit the Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festival
Florida News: Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festival starts October 4
Once simply a part of the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, the Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festival has grown large enough to deserve its own event. It will be happening this year over the Columbus Day Weekend.
See The Films
Thursday, October 4 marks the start of the festival with opening night film, “Cloudburst.” This film, starring Brenda Fricker and Olympia Dukakis, is about a woman trying to help her partner of 31 years escape from a nursing home. It will be screened at the Classic Gateway Theater.
There will be a variety of films featured at the Fort Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Film Festival – feature lengths and shorts, both documentaries and fictional films. Some to look forward to include, “The Men Next Door,” “About Cherry,” and “I Stand Corrected.” “I Stand Corrected” is a documentary which tells the story of successful jazz musician, John Litham, who underwent sexual reassignment therapy to become Jennifer.
