Florida News: Lineup announced for inaugural Key West Film Festival

Details have finally been announced regarding the lineup for the Key West Film Festival happening November 29-December 2 of this year. Over 30 films will be screened during the four-day festival and actors, filmmakers and film lovers from around the world are expected to attend. The mission of the non-profit Key West Film Festival organization is to highlight films demonstrating excellence in storytelling while capturing the essence of what Key West is about: Diversity, Sustainability, Creativity and Beauty.

The KWFF Films

Highlights of the festival include:

  • While We Are Here, a film directed by Kat Coiro, starring Kate Bosworth
  • Quartet, the directorial debut of Dustin Hoffman
  • Journey to Planet X, the Florida premiere of the film starring Troy Brenier and Eric Swain, directed by Josh Koury and Myles Kane
  • Any Day Now, directed by Travis Fine, starring Alan Cumming
  • The Playroom, starring Molly Parker and John Hawkes, directed by Julia Dyer
  • Starlet, starring Dree Hemingway and written by Chris Bergoch

Other films being screened feature the following performers:

  • Sissy Spacek
  • Olivia Wilde
  • Clive Owen
  • Bernadette Peters,
  • Olympia Dukakis
  • Jane Fonda
  • Robert Carlyle
  • Chris Colfer
  • Christina Hendricks
  • Allison Janney

Submissions from three finalists in the Big Vision Empty Wallet’s comedy short film contest will be shown and the individuals will be in attendance.

KWFF Events

Visit Hemingway House for the opening night reception which will include a Mat Kearney concert and screenings on the beach.

Kat Coiro, Josh Koury, Julia Dyer, Myles Kane, Eric Swain, Troy Brenier, Chris Bergoch, Alan Cumming and Travis Fine are all scheduled to be in attendance, as will Corey Campodonico and Alex Bulkley, Emmy-award winning animation producers.

Kevin “Dot Com” Brown of 30 Rock fame will be the emcee for the event.
