What To Do In Florida: Join the crowds at Run to the Heartland in Sebring
Florida News: 9th Annual Run To The Heartland starts today
If you’re looking for something to do in the vicinity of Sebring in southern Florida this weekend and you’re a fan of motorcycles, head to downtown Sebring Circle for the annual Run To The Heartland event which kicks off today at 11am and finishes up on Sunday afternoon.
What is Run To The Heartland?
The Run To The Heartland event is a three day festival featuring food, music, bike shows and a poker run and it’s sponsored by The Heartland Riders Association, a volunteer organization, as a way of giving back to the community. The group recruits family and friends to help pull off the event and the Christian Motorcyclist Association pitches in too, especially in helping handle the parking situation for the event.
The event starts with a flag raising ceremony where the National Anthem will be sung and Pastor Steve Trinkle will deliver an invocation. Opening music will be performed by Bagpiper Mark Manley. Live music will play from 1pm until 10pm. At 5pm in the Demo Area (North Ridgewood Drive) watch skill and safety demos by the Central Florida Drill team. Honda Goldwings and Harley Davidson Ultra Glides will be part of the mix in an impressive presentation.
Don’t miss the 6pm performance of Jerry “The Motorman” Paladino’s “Ride Like a Pro” demo!
“Thunder” the bald eagle will be standing by from 11am through 6pm for photo ops which will benefit Wrede’s Wildlife Sanctuary.
Explore the display of vintage motorcycles and see the bikes on “Bike Builders Row” where builders from all over the state will have bikes on display including Trikes by Design, Von Barron Motors and Tsunami Choppers.
The 100-mile Run to the Heartland Poker Run sign up happens from 8am until 11am while the bike show sign up will be going on from 9am through 2pm. Check out the Bike Builders Parade from 11:30 until 12:30! Live entertainment will start at 1pm and motorcycle skills demos will happen from 10am until 7pm.
Enjoy breakfast served by the Christian Motorcycle Association while live entertainment and bike demos take place for the morning and afternoon. Find out between 4:30 and 5:30 which vintage bike will be named the best!
