Florida News: Sports bars with Olympics coverage and themed summer games drinks

Wondering where to watch the Olympics in Florida? There are a number of bars that are streaming Olympics coverage and creating libations inspired by the 2012 games. From a two-story screen to an outdoor bar, here are some venues to try, along with signature drinks and specials.

Wreckers Sports Bar, Orlando

The brand new sports bar in Gaylord palms provides an ideal venue for watching the games. You can watch continuing summer games coverage from the two-story, 37’ sports screens at Wreckers Sports Bar, or from one of the 50 HDTVs located throughout the restaurant. If you’re there when the US wins a gold medal, make sure you take advantage of the “You Call It” Bacardi Gold drink special. The Wreckers will run the drink special for one hour following a gold medal win.

The Pub, Pembroke Pines

It’s not only Florida sports bars that have Olympic coverage, most British pubs do as well. Along with Summer Olympic viewing parties, has event-themed drinks from an Olympic beer sampler to beer bucket specials. The Team USA five long neck Bud Light or Budweiser bottles, while the World Team bucket has a variety of imports such as Heineken. The feature drink is the Olympic torch cocktail, made with sour mix and Three Olives vodka, the rosemary sprig and frozen melon balls are added to resemble the Olympic torch.

Saia, Fort Lauderdale

You can watch all the Olympic action at SAIA’s outdoor bar on one of their flat-screen TVs. While you’re cheering on your favorite athletes, sample their two signature summer games concoctions. Infused with lime, blueberries and strawberries, the Olympic Torch Martini’s main ingredient is Grand Marnier – when flambéed for smoothness, it also represents the Olympic flame.
