Florida news: Outdoor skills workshop for women announced

If you love spending time in nature and want to learn more skills, from wilderness survival and outdoor cooking to archery and  hand gun techniques, a hands-on woman’s outdoor skills workshop in West Palm Beach covers a wide variety of activities in one weekend. You’ll be fully immersed in the outdoors as you stay on the premises for the entire weekend, from cafeteria-style meals and rustic bunk bed accommodations to the comprehensive three-and-a-half hour training sessions. Held by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s (FWC), the workshop is created for women but anyone can attend as long as they are 18 years and older and have a keen interest in non-consumptive to fishing and hunting activities. Meals and are included. The Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) three-day workshop is popular so if you’re interested, register early.

Activities you’ll learn

You can sign up for about four sessions during the weekend. There’s a variety of topics to choose from but the following gives you an idea of the breadth of activities and skills that are covered:

There are further sessions available for the weekend and evening campfires activities can vary between campfire songs, astronomy or fly tying demonstrations to native plants, night hikes or flint knapping.
