1. 10th Annual Herbs in the Gardens Festival

Starting at 10am you can purchase something from the plant sale. Then at 11am, a park ranger will lead you on a tour of the 20 acres of formal gardens at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park. Stick around because at noon, chef Ruth Micieli will teach you how to use herbs in your home cooking during a demo and tasting. Bring home an herb-themed recipe booklet! Another tour will start at 2pm incase you miss the 11am walk.

2. Scarecrows in the Gardens

Take your family to Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park before the end of October for a chance to see some amazing one-of-a-kind scarecrows! Community groups, clubs, businesses, individuals and families had until October 1 to register their own scarecrow in the contest. Come take a walk around the park and see the creative entries!

3. The Haunting of Fort Taylor

October is here and the spirits are restless. Spend the afternoon exploring the park and time it so that you can watch some open-air theater showings of classic old black and white horror movies!
