Looking for something to do in the great outdoors between November 23 and November 30? Check out one of these following events happening at State Parks in the coming days.

1. Coffee With A Ranger

Planning on going camping in Florida on the weekend of Thanksgiving? If you choose to camp at Lake Louisa State Park you’ll have a chance to meet some of the other folks camping there too when you join the park Ranger for a cup of cocoa or a coffee and some conversation at the campground’s Hammond Lake Pavilion. Learn all about the park in a social atmosphere! Bring along sweets or treats to share with the group if you like.

2. Alligators

Head to Topsail Hill Preserve State Park for a presentation about alligators. Learn about how these scary-looking creatures were at one time hunted to the point where they’d almost become extinct. The presentation happens at the clubhouse which is just a short hike from the day use area of the park.

3. Holiday Hike

If you’re not interested in battling the crowds at the Black Friday sales this year, head to Fort Pierce Inlet State Park for a 2-mile hike. Learn about the plants and animals that thrive in the barrier islands. See areas of the park that aren’t open to members of the general public with the park Ranger. Listen to stories about Florida’s first Thanksgiving. Reservations are recommended for this popular event. Call 772-468-3985 to save a spot.
