Florida News: New non-stop flights soon available into Orlando from Shenandoah Valley

Starting November 20, 2012, travelers can hop aboard a 138-seat Airbus 319 aircraft at Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport for a direct flight into Orlando International Airport. To celebrate the only nonstop flight from the Shenandoah Valley to Orlando International, from now through August 25, Frontier is offering rates as low as $69 each way.

Shenandoah Valley to Orlando Service

Yesterday, Frontier Airlines announced that it would offer three weekly nonstop flights between Shenandoah Valley (SHD) and Orlando International (MCO). This move makes Frontier Airlines the first low-fare carrier to fly out of Shenandoah Valley Regional.

The flight schedule looks like this:

  • 7:30am Tuesday and Thursday departures from Orlando arriving at 9:25am
  • 10:05am Tuesday and Thursday departures from Shenandoah Valley arriving at 12:10pm
  • 7:00am Sunday departure from Orlando arriving at 8:55am
  • 9:35am Sunday departure from Shenandoah Valley arriving at 11:40am
Besides offering Shenandoah Valley-area residents with speedy service into central Florida, airline officials hope that these convenient flights will also lure more visitors from the sunshine state to the Valley.

The aircraft

Passengers between Orlando and Shenandoah Valley will enjoy Frontier’s low fares but they’ll also receive amenities that they wouldn’t with most bargain carriers. The aircraft offers five rows of STRETCH seating offering five to seven inches of extra legroom and TVs at every seat featuring 30 channels of DIRECTV service.
