Florida News: President Obama causes a scene in The Big Apple Pizza and Pasta Restaurant
With the November 6 election drawing nearer, President Obama has been spending a great deal of time in Florida- which is not only the Sunshine state, but currently, it’s also a swing state. Obama made his tenth visit of the year to Florida over this past weekend and as a result of one unscheduled stop on the two-day bus tour, he possibly got more attention than he did with his actual campaigning efforts.
Obama visits The Big Apple Pizza and Pasta Restaurant
The photo you see above has been making its rounds on Facebook and Twitter. It’s not every day you see the President of the United States picked up by a pizza restaurant owner!
Scott Van Duzer, owner of the Big Apple Pizza and Pasta Restaurant in Fort Pierce, was so extremely excited to see the President walk through the door that he literally pulled Obama into a giant bear hug and lifted the man off the ground.
Obama not only commented on the man’s stature (Van Duzer stands 6’3″ and weighs 260 pounds) and asked whether or not he was a power lifter, but he explained one of the reasons for his visit to The Big Apple Pizza and Pasta Restaurant.
Obama explained, “Scott has been doing unbelievable work out of this pizza shop in promoting the importance of donating blood. He has set some records here in Florida. He has received commendations from the White House, our surgeon general. He has galvanized and mobilized the local community, and he’s educated kids and folks all across the country on this issue… I’m still wondering how he got these biceps, but what we know is that the guy’s got a big heart along with big pecs.”
