Florida News: Veterans Day Events To Do In South Florida

If you’re wondering where to get out and show your respect for the nation’s veterans, here are some of the events you’ll find in southern Florida.

1. Fort Lauderdale Dedication Ceremony

In Fort Lauderdale, head to Holiday Park for a dedication ceremony featuring speakers who have served in the U.S. Armed Services. Witness the rededication of the recently restored North American F-86H Sabre Jet Memorial. It happens at 11 am on Wednesday.

2. Miami Beach Veterans Day Parade and Picnic

In Miami Beach there will be a Veterans Day parade and picnic happening. It starts at 9am at 17th Street with the parade making its way down Washington Avenue to 11th Street. On Wednesday, head to Flamingo Park where there’ll be a ceremony and picnic happening to honor veterans.

3. Veterans Day Service in Sunrise

The city of Sunrise will be honoring military veterans on Wednesday at Welleby Park with a 21-gun salute, flag presentation and speeches. It starts at 11am. Everyone is asked to bring along donations such as candy, magazines and personal hygiene items to send to the troops overseas.
