If you’re traveling around Florida, looking for something out of the ordinary to do, check out one of these free events happening in the coming days.

1. Low Country Shrimp Boil

Enter the kids in the hermit crab races, the bean bag games and the hula hoop contests happening during the Low Country Shrimp Boil at The Shops of the Omni Amelia Island Plantation. In addition to all this fun, feast on the most delicious shrimp in this part of Florida.

2. Story Time In The Secret Garden

Listen to stories in The Secret Garden at The Department of Environmental Protection’s Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park during this free magical event happening during Literacy Month. Snack on lemonade and cookies. You’ll get in for free when you bring a library card, a library book or when you donate a gently used book. Be sure to dress for a light stroll!

3. A Walk in the Woods

Meet your fellow walkers at the kiosk of the Jacksonville Arboretum and sign up for one of two walks that will be great to kick off the weekend with. There’s a casual walk and a fitness walk to participate in, both of them informative and fun. Both walks allow you to explore the 13 ecosystems that the Arboretum’s trails wind through. You’ll burn calories whichever way you do it but the fitness walk will burn more calories!
