What’s happening in Disney World: May 2012
Disney Vacation Guide: Best of May 2012 Events
There is so much going on in Disney World during the month of May that we have to wonder why everyone doesn’t rush to visit the parks at this time of year. From the Flower & Garden Festival making Epcot a visually stunning place to be, to the Star Wars characters who invade Hollywood Studios on Saturdays and Sundays from mid-May through mid-June, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
Epcot Events: May 2012
March 7-May 20: International Flower & Garden Festival. Besides millions of colorful blossoms, this 75-day festival features gardening demos, workshops and music. The Flower Power Concert series brings the music of the 1960s and 1970s to America Gardens Theater each weekend during the festival. Mickey Dolenz and Herman’s Hermits are on this month’s lineup.
Epcot is a wonderful place to take Mom for Mother’s Day with the flowers and music, but there are also many special brunches and buffets being held around the park (and other parks in Disney World) so keep that in mind as you plan your visit.
Hollywood Studios Events: May 2012
May 18-June 10: Star Wars Weekends. If you’re a fan of the “Star Wars” movie saga and/or “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” animated series, Disney’s Hollywod Studios is the place to be during the weekends between May 18 and June 10. Meet characters and try to get an autograph or two from your favorites.
Magic Kingdom Events: May 2012
Starting mid-May you’ll be able to meet Merida, the feisty red-haired Scottish heroine from the soon-to-be-released Disney-Pixar film, “Brave.” She’ll be appearing in Fairytale Garden which will have a Scottish Highlands theme featuring archery lessons and other activities.
Because it is the month most heavily associated with Moms, you can find endless opportunities throughout these areas of Disney as well as the Downtown Disney area and the Animal Kingdom to do something that Mom will enjoy. From Disney spas to wildlife encounters and everything in between, no matter what Mom loves most, you’ll find something special to do with her for Mother’s Day at Disney World.
