Treat yourself to Christmas in the luxury of Disney’s Grand Floridian
Disney Vacation Guide to Christmas at the Grand Floridian Resort
Standing 5-stories tall with a striking red roof on the white sandy shore of Seven Seas Lagoon is one of the most magical places in Disney World to spend Christmas – the magnificent Grand Floridian Resort. The site of palm trees swaying against the gleaming white exterior of this sprawling hotel is a site to behold but once you get inside it only gets better – especially during the holidays
Inside Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
When you step inside the lobby during the holidays, your eyes will be drawn up – way up – to the top of the 5-storey high ceiling. And it’s difficult to miss the giant Christmas tree covered in white lights and opulent decorations. It’s so beautiful, you may miss the 2 chandeliers, stained-glass skylights and marble floors that set the stage for a Victorian-style Christmas in this Disney Deluxe Resort.
Don’t worry though, it is Disney World so even with all this luxury there’s still lots of Christmas fun to be had.
During the holidays, the lobby smells of cinnamon thanks to the life-sized gingerbread house that stands just behind the Christmas tree. The “sweet” cottage is made from 600 pounds of powdered sugar, 1,050 pounds of honey, and 35 pounds of spices (among other things!). Its chimney puffs out cinnamon smoke making everything smell like cookies.
The Grand Floridian is also a great place for viewing the Holiday Wishes fireworks show and Cinderella’s Castle which glitters with twinkling lights at this time of year.
When you decorate gingerbread houses with your children, do you remain in control or just let them have their way with the icing and gumdrops?
