Disney Vacation Guide: The Avengers on the Disney Monorail
In 2009, The Walt Disney Company acquired Marvel Entertainment Inc. for a cool $4.3 billion. At a shareholder meeting in Kansas City last month, The President and CEO of the Walt Disney Company, Robert Iger, alluded to plans of incorporating Marvel superheroes into the parks and lands of Disney World.
The first Marvel “attraction” to come to Disney
In promotion of the highly-anticipated movie “The Avengers,” A Disney/Marvel film, The Walt Disney World Resort will be wrapping one of its monorails. With superheroes. The last time the monorail was wrapped was in promotion of “Tron: Legacy” which was lovingly dubbed the “Tronorail” by fans of the film.
Monorail Red is now undergoing its transformation to feature characters from the film, “The Avengers.”
There’s a pretty good chance that this monorail will soon be dubbed the “Avengerail.”
What characters will be featured?
Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye (portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner in the film) will all be featured on the Avengers monorail.
When will the Avengers hit the monorail?
We’ve heard that the Avengers monorail will make its way around Disney World as early as this weekend. The movie is coming to theaters May 4.
What about Universal Studios?
Universal Orlando and Disney have a licensing agreement that allows Universal to keep featuring Marvel characters in their Islands of Adventure theme park. Marvel Superhero Island at Universal has existed for much longer than Disney’s recent acquisition of Marvel Entertainment Inc.
