Phase one of Disney’s Fantasyland Expansion now open
Disney Vacation Guide: Storybook Circus launched today with a soft opening
At 10:45am this morning, properly attired “circus” cast members and members of Walt Disney Resort management led guests into the first phase of the Fantasyland expansion in the Magic Kingdom.
The Fantasyland expansion is the biggest enhancement ever to take place in Magic Kingdom history. Attractions will be opening in phases starting today with Storybook Circus and its re-imagined Barnstormer ride – now known as The Great Goofini! Everyone’s favorite – the Flying Dumbo attraction – is back open for business today as is a brand new railroad station.
Flying Dumbo has been transported from the spot where it once stood in “old” Fantasyland. A second Dumbo carousel will open soon. Both rides will be next to each other, and they will move in opposite directions.
Storybook Circus is the new Mickey’s Toontown Fair
Storybook Circus is in the section of the Magic Kingdom that used to be known as Mickey’s Toontown Fair. It’s opening today is at “soft opening” status which means it might not be fully operational at all times.
The second Flying Dumbo ride, the Beast’s Castle and a new dark ride, Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid are also expected to open later this spring. We’re pretty excited about The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train roller coaster which is also under construction. From what we’re hearing, by 2013, most new experiences in the Fantasyland expansion will be open.
Do you miss Mickey’s Toontown Fair or do you think Storybook Circus will be a nice change?
