Disney’s Healthy Eating Program
In February 2010, Disney World started collaborating with First Lady Michelle Obama to support her “Let’s Move” campaign with the goal of creating a healthier generation. Disney started making a conscious effort to promote healthier lifestyles and nutrition for children and families, however, back in 2006, when it implemented groundbreaking nutritional guidelines giving parents and kids much healthier eating options throughout the parks and resorts.
The food policies at the theme parks limit the use of Disney’s famous brand name and its characters to the kid-focused products which meet very strict guidelines including limits on calories, saturated fats and sugar.
Meals offered for children at all Disney-operated restaurants in Disney Parks and Resorts include fresh produce and low-fat dairy options. In fact, more than 85% of Disney’s licensed food portfolio is now made up of healthier options.
