Embark on a Christmas safari in Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Disney Vacation Guide to a Christmas Safari
Traveling for the Christmas holidays is quite adventurous, especially you have children vacationing with you. You’re pelted with non-stop questions about whether or not Santa will find them when they’re not in their own beds! And regular old-fashioned Christmas excitement is enhanced by the experience of being in new surroundings. But, imagine the looks on their faces when they discover they’ll be spending the holidays in Disney World’s Animal Kingdom!
The Animal Kingdom isn’t quite as twinkly as the Magic Kingdom during the holidays, but if your children are a little bit older, they will still feel the magic. And there are plenty of grown-up activities for you to enjoy, too!
The Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Wanyama Safari
If you’ll be resting your head at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney has made it easy to start a new Christmas tradition by introducing the new Wanyama Safari experience, exclusive to guests of the lodge.
There’s plenty of holiday spirit in this part of the theme park. Decorated Christmas trees, garlands and wreaths add plenty of festive flair. And if you and your children love animals, the safari is something you’ll never forget. Hop aboard a safari vehicle where you’ll explore 46 acres of savanna where impala, giraffes and zebras roam. There are amazing photo opportunities here at what is probably the best way to see animals at Disney World.
After the safari head to Jiko: The Cooking Place for a delicious South African meal. It may not be turkey with all the trimmings, but give your family the gift of experiencing a different culture!
Other Christmas Events in the Animal Kingdom
If you’re in the Animal Kingdom for Christmas, you’ll get to take in the festive Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade! This musical holiday cavalcade led by King Louie and Baloo will be one of the most exciting Christmas parades you’ll ever see!
