Disney Vacation Guide: Coming up in the parks – Spring 2012

With the new Fantasyland Expansion well underway, it’s a pretty exciting time in and around Disney World, especially in the Magic Kingdom theme park.

The following is a park-by-park overview of what’s taking place in Disney World in the spring of 2012:

Magic Kingdom

The Fantasyland expansion currently underway is the biggest enhancement ever to take place in Magic Kingdom history. Attractions will be opening in phases starting in late March 2012 with the re-imagined Barnstormer ride. (Fly high with The Great Goofini!) Other attractions expected to be opening soon are the new Dumbo the Flying Elephant attraction, the Beast’s Castle and Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid. By 2013, most new experiences in the Fantasyland expansion will be open.

The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival will get underway March 7, running through May 20. Walk among millions of gorgeous flowers, admire dozens of topiaries (many in the likeness of Disney characters) and listen to some of the best hits from the grooviest of decades! The 2012 Flower Power Concert Series includes many well-known artists including Jose Feliciano and The Guess Who.

Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort opens starting in phases in May 2012. Treat your family to a stay in a suite themed after their favorite Disney story; Cars, The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo or The Lion King. The Art of Animation property will have the largest swimming pool at Disney World at 11,859 square feet.
