Disney Vacation Guide: The magic of Fantasyland at night
We’ve been counting the days for the various phases of Fantasyland’s expansion and are thrilled each time there’s a new addition. From Dumbo, the Flying elephant to the Great Goofini, it’s capturing our imagination all over again. July is one of the milestone months for the Disney expansion – so far we’ve seen the opening of the double Dumbos on the flying attraction, the introduction of the water play station, Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station, and the interactive, air-conditioned play area under the Big Top. So what’s left in July? Seeing it all at night, where the real magic of Disney shines through!
Night-time at Fantasyland
If you want to see your children’s eyes light up, take them to the Magic Kingdom in the evening. From rounding a dark corner on the Great Goofini to the green, purple and blue flying elephants in the distance, the bright lights draw gasps. Even the fountain underneath the Dumbo right changes color as the elephants dip down toward the water.

An evening ride on the Walt Disney World Railroad
If you arrive at the Magic Kingdom at night, take one of the antique steam-engine trains to Fantasyland. The scenic ride takes a 1.5 mile circular route around the park where you can see all the lights. At 10-12 mph, you can sit back and unwind while the train chugs along to the grand entrance at Fantasyland.
When do you love to visit the Magic Kingdom – during the day or at night?
