Scare yourself silly on a Florida vacation

A Florida vacation to Disney World isn’t always about cute cartoon characters and princess castles (though it can be)! There are also many thrills to be had for anyone who likes to live on the wild side!

Space Mountain

Speed through sharp drops and hairpin turns in your rocket as you plunge into darkness up to 28 miles per hour. Although a bit dated this is still a favorite rollercoaster, and the spinning stars and constellations add to the rush of speed.

  • Minimum Height: 44 inches (112 cm)

Splash Mountain

Thrill-seeking teens, adults and big kids who like to get wet will relish in the excitement of this infamous log flume ride in the thick of Critter Country. Through a series of twists, dips and turns you’ll find yourself tumbling over gentle waterfalls and disappearing into dark caves before dropping five dramatic stories to finally learn the fate of Brer Rabbit who’s been chased by Brer Fox this entire time. Don’t forget to preview the photo that captured the expression on your face as your log began its descent!

Tip: The intense, steep drop could scare some children.

  • Minimum Height: 40 inches (102 cm)

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

This rickety roller coaster ride in Frontierland may be the mildest of the “mountain” attractions in the Magic Kingdom, but it’s not suitable for the non-adventurer. There are plenty of dips and drops along the track to keep your heart racing as you take in the realistic Southwestern landscape made up of grottos, caves, a waterfall and even dinosaur bones. Big Thunder Mountain is spectacular under the stars, so if you get the chance to ride after dark, it’s well worth it.

Tips: Hold on to your hat and your glasses as articles may fall out of the car.
