Disney news: Desserts & Champagne Marketplace debuts sweets treats, events and experiences

With more than 100,000 desserts served during the International Food & Wine Festival, along with unique events and experiences, we’re highlighting the top picks so you can balance your decadent indulgences during the 46-day festival.

Sweets to try:

How do you choose between thousands of desserts? Let your eyes do the searching but stay on the lookout for these:

  • smooth texture of yogurt panna cotta with orange cake, raspberries and pomegranate
  • sweet and spicy bite of dark chocolate mousse with chili and salted caramel
  • sweet and sour tones of lemon custard verrine with blueberry compote

“3D” Dessert Discovery

During the food festival, more than 500 pounds of watermelon will be sampled so get into the World ShowPlace 15 minutes early with your “Sweet Seats” tickets that includes a special beverage and dessert along with V.I.P. viewing of  the signature  fireworks and laser show, IllumiNations.

Sweet Sundays

Have breakfast with a chef during the Sunday breakfast buffet that has a heavy concentration on sparkling wines, melt-in-your-mouth desserts and cooking demonstrations. Three desserts will be prepared by top bakers and pastry chefs from renowned restaurants such as Madame Chocolat in Beverly Hills and Baked in New York to TRU in Chicago and Creative Cutters in Ontario, Canada.

The Discovery of Chocolate

How many ways can you taste chocolate? Let it melt in your mouth, sample chocolate dishes and let paired spirits and wines complement the tasting. Professional chocolatiers from establishments such as Valrhona in New York and Moonstruck Chocolates in Portland will guide your taste buds.

  • When: Sunday, October 14 & 28 and November 4 & 11; 2:45 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.
  • Where: Festival Welcome Center, Chef’s Showcase, Epcot
  • Cost: $75/person plus tax & Epcot admission

The Discovery of Grand Marnier

Two decadent desserts accompany this tasting event, but the focus is on the spirits! Sip a glass of Moet & Chandon Ice Imperial, pick up some mixing techniques during a mixology session and sample Grand Marnier 100th Anniversary, 150th Anniversary and Cordon Rouge.

  • When: Sunday, September 30, October 7 & 21; 2:45 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.
