Disney News: 20th Flower & Garden Festival launches first time experiences from gardens and food to music and playgrounds

The upcoming 20th Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival has a number of unique features this this year. Here’s an overview of what’s new at the festival which runs from March 6-May 19, 2013 at at Epcot

Festival food and beverages

Epcot chefs are working on special foods for this festival that will be offered at cooking stations along Epcot’s World Showcase promenade. These will be as exclusive festival bites only available for the 75 days of the festival.

Land of Oz Play Area

A new circus-like playground timed with the March 2013 release of Disney’s “Oz: The Great and Powerful” will debut interactive fun based on the film adventure.

Fab Five Disney character topiary

Goofy, Donald Duck and Pluto will appear along with Mickey and Minnie Mouse will be shaped by Disney topiary experts in a floral cookout scene at Epcot’s front entrance.

Illuminated gardens

Make sure you stay till the evening as gardens in Future World and World Showcase will have a colorful glow at night.

Other Surprises

Disney has other surprises during the 75-day garden party:

  • colorful garden displays
  • HGTV celebrity designers such as Chris Lambton of “Going Yard”, Brandon Johnson of “My Yard Goes Disney” and Meg Caswell of “Meg’s Great Rooms.”
  • a butterfly bounty
  • whimsical children’s play areas
  •  interactive gardening seminars
  • favorites and new acts for the Flower Power concerts: The Village People and Tommy Roe
