New at Disney World August 2012
Disney News: The Lion King wing opens August 2012
Since May 2012, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort has unveiled one wing after another. We’ve seen “Finding Nemo” and the “Cars” family suites, and on August 10th, the third phase will open with an Africa setting for the Lion King wing. From Scar’s hyenas prowling the elephant graveyard playground to Pride Rock, Simba’s African landscape comes to life with characters and moments from the Academy Award-winning film. Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase. Hakuna Matata! Ain’t no passin’ craze.
The family suites
Within the 320 family suites, the story continues. Go to sleep with Zazu or Simba overlooking you from the headboard, and step into the shower meet Pumba and Timon in the shower. From leaf-shaped chairs to jungle prints on the carpet, you’ll be dreaming “hakuna matata”.
Step into the courtyard and scenes from the animated film come to life. Simba’s father, Mufasa, looms over the courtyard from a rocky outcrop while looking over the territory. You’ll also see Timon, Pumbaa and Simba, larger-than-life, crossing a log bridge.
Opening in September 2012
The next wing to open in this whimsical resort, will be based on the beloved Disney Pixar film, the “Little Mermaid” wing.
