“Celebrate the Magic” Show Arrives at Disney today
Disney News: New nighttime show premieres at the Magic Kingdom on November 13th, 2012
From candy canes and gingerbread houses to a castle broken by “Wreck-It Ralph”, a series of Disney stories are projected onto the front of Cinderella Castle during the new “Celebrate the Magic”. Incorporating elements from “The Magic, The Memories and You!,” there are new music, storytelling and special effects. “It’s the story of Walt’s paintbrush coming alive and sharing some of the classic Disney stories with us, but also some of the latest stories such as Wreck-It Ralph,” says show director Katy Harris. ”
Tonight, November 13, 2012, is the first time guests will see “Celebrate the Magic,” projected onto 189-feet of the castle’s facade with a variety of Disney and Pixar characters from Bambi and Mickey Mouse to “Wreck-It Ralph” and Tinkerbell, along with an appearance from Walt in a black and white video. Many of the images will transform Cinderella Castle into:
- a rocket
- a jungle
- a gingerbread house
- a video game
- a circus tent
- a Cheshire Cat
The show is scheduled to appear most nights – check the Times Guide as there an be a maximum of two shows each evening depending on the operating hours in the park and other special events such as Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party that require a ticket.
“Normally a projection surface is flat, but Cinderella castle is far from flat, says show Director Katy Harris. “They’re (the turrets) all round so we have to wrap the images around it.”
